The future of Cheshire Jets remains clouded with uncertainty as the club continues to hunt a new owner.

Months of negotiations with a prospective new owner broke down earlier this month, and now find themselves desperately searching for a new backer, with little over a month until the start of the new BBL season.

Current owner Peter Hawkins revealed last week he is moving on, citing work commitments.

He said: “Over the past six months I have had to make some hard decisions regarding my involvement. Due to new career responsibilities I spend long periods travelling outside of the North West. With this in mind I am no longer in a position to continue to lead the running of the Jets BBL Pro team.

“Back in March, we began exclusive discussions with a preferred party and talks progressed well, unfortunately this week, through no fault of our own it became clear that this person is unlikely to be taking over the leadership of the club.”

Fortunately, the Cheshire Jets Foundation remains unaffected, and they continue to run their popular Summer Camps and the Jets National League programme.

An emergency meeting has been arranged for Monday night at the Ye Olde Custom House pub in Watergate Street, Chester (7pm) for supporters to discuss a plan of action.
